Who Is Matthew Klein?
Matthew is a writer/director/producer based out of NYC. He’s developed and produced works for film, stage, the web, music videos, and narrative podcasts. He is a member of Six Part Productions, an independent production company committed to telling inventive, compelling, and intelligent stories, in any medium. He works primarily in script development, casting, assists in producing most all company ventures, as well as serving as lead producer for the company’s LOVE DRUNK SERIES which debuted in June, 2014.
He served as the Artistic Associate for The New Group under Associate Artistic Director Ian Morgan and Tony Winning Artistic Director, Scott Elliott. He worked primarily in the artistic, literary, and education departments of the company. He was responsible for scouting new works and playwrights, reviewing approximately a hundred scripts per month, stage managing the NewGroupNewWorks developmental reading series, and teaching the playwriting course for the Life Stories program.
Matthew completed his MFA from Sarah Lawrence College ('11) where he was awarded the Lipkin Prize for Playwriting. While doing undergraduate work at The New School, he founded The Mekka Collective, a 501c3 theatre company that produced developmental workshops, readings, one act festivals, and full works in NYC for more than five years.
Be it stage, screen, the web, or on the page, Matthew is a versatile collaborator whose faith is in the art of storytelling. He is available for projects at all stages of development in almost any medium at a reasonable rate.
